Clippers: Rasual Butler bought out; Baron Davis speaks | The Fabulous Forum | Los Angeles Times

There was fairly immediate fallout from the finalization of theBaron Davisdeal.

Sunday afternoon, the Clippers bought out little-used small forwardRasual Butler. Those familiar with the process said he should be waived by Monday morning, and there was speculation that he could end up with the Chicago Bulls.

Butler's name had apparently come up in talks between the Clippers and the Bulls leading up to last week's trade deadline.

Even with the many Clippers injuries, the three-point specialist has been the forgotten man this season, playing a total of five minutes in the eight games before the All-Star break. He was averaging five points per game and would have fallen to fourth on their depth chart at small forward now thatJamario Moonis in the mix. Moon and point guardMo Williamscame to the Clippers from Cleveland in the Davis trade.

Butler was making $2.4 million this season, having signed a one-year deal with the Clippers last summer. His exit was helped along by the departure of Davis, as they seemed to have a decent chemistry, in particular, last season.

Davis did not play in the Cavaliers' game against Philadelphia on Sunday, still bothered by a sore and swollen left knee. But he did meet with the Cleveland media, and one subject was Clippers ownerDonald Sterling, who was said to have heckled Davis this season from his courtside seats at Staples Center.

"You never expect the person who signed you to a contract to be the one who hates you the most," Davis told the Plain Dealer."You have to deal with that too."
