Ducks' Toni Lydman cleared to play | The Fabulous Forum | Los Angeles Times

Ducks_187The Ducks got more good news Thursday, the day after their first win of the season.

DefensemanToni Lydman, who had yet to make his debut because of an episode of double vision, has received medical clearance to play, the team announced. Lydman has been practicing lightly with the team.

A veteran signed to help compensate for the loss ofScott Niedermayerto retirement, Lydman should help bolster a young defense that has given up shots at an alarming rate in the early going.

The team also announced that defensemanBrett Festerlinghas been assigned to Syracuse of the American Hockey League.
