The Kings will put their perfect record on the line in the third period tonight at Staples Center.
Justin Williams’extra effort gave the Kings a 2-1 lead after two periods. They are 19-0 this season when entering the third period with a lead.
Williams fired a shot on goal from the neutral zone, then beat two Dallas players to the rebound. He got off three more tries, slipping the third past goaltenderKari Lehtonenfor a 2-1 Kings lead seven minutes into the second period.
Lehtonen prevented the Kings from building on a 1-0 lead earlier in the second period, making five saves on quality chances during a power play.
His efforts soon paid off. The Stars, with a man advantage, converted a textbook tic-tac-toe goal, withMike Ribeirogetting the score. The Kings regained the lead 51 seconds later.
