NHL: Kings stellar on one end, stalled on the other | The Fabulous Forum | Los Angeles Times

Kings1_400The Kings continue to play exceptionally well on the penalty kill.

And they still can’t buy a goal as they head into the third period against the Calgary Flames in a scoreless game at Staples Center.

The Kings have shut down the Flames on four power plays, running their streak to 33 consecutive penalty kills since giving up a man-advantage goal in the second period against the Detroit Red Wings on Feb. 28.

GoaltenderJonathan Quickhas been a big part of that effort tonight. Half of his 14 saves have come on Calgary power plays.

But the Kings were unable to equal Quick's effort offensively.Anze Kopitarhad the best chance in the second period, with the Kings on a power play and Calgary goaltenderMiikka Kiprusoffhaving lost his stick. Kopitar had a clear shot from the blue line but could not put the puck on net.
